Helpful items for mud-out crews: hammers, nail pullers, pry bar, crow bar, gloves, respirator masks, drinking water, sheetrock saw, wheel barrow, contractor trash bags, utility knife, saws all, shovel, tools to remove window trim, screw drivers, wrenches.
Trip #1: Leave 4:00 p.m. Friday, 9/08 - Sunday evening, 9/10 to Port Arthur/Groves
Needs: Take water and supplies and do mud-out work. We will stay at a church in Groves.
The Plan: Help people move stuff out of their home and ready it for repair. We are also collecting food/supplies. Supply List: Food that doesn't have to be cooked. Snack foods. Juice for kids. Toilet paper. Water. Diapers. Baby wipes. Shampoo and conditioner.
Trip #2: Leave 4:00 p.m. Thursday, 9/14 – Sunday evening, 9/17 to Lumberton
(Some will join us on Friday) Needs: mud-out crew, kitchen crew, and distribution center crew. We will stay at Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton.
The Plan: A mud-out crew will need to bring all tools and supplies needed to remove sheetrock, flooring, and other damaged materials. A kitchen crew will help relieve Crestwood's overwhelmed members who have been serving the meals to the volunteer work crews (food provided by Crestwood). A distribution center crew will help sort and organize already donated clothing and supplies for needy families who come for those items.
Financial donations in the form of gift cards could also be accepted to share with Crestwood to distribute to affected families in the area. Please let us know if you're interested in participating in either of these trips.
